Upsell Popup for collections

Increasing average order value using collections

One effective way to increase average order value is by creating an upsell offer using Shopify collections. When a customer adds an item to their cart, the upsell popup can promote additional products from a selected collection. Depending on how your collection is set up, this can encourage customers to add complementary items such as matching colours, sizes, or other branded products.


You can also create a best sellers collection in Shopify and use it to promote your top performing products to all customers.


How to set up a popup offer using a Shopify collection


Step 1: Create a new offer

  1. Open Upsell Popup from your Shopify admin.
  2. Click Offers in the left hand menu.
  3. Click Create offer.
  4. Choose Add extra products offer.
  5. Click Next: configuration.





Step 2: Select a collection for cross sell products

In the Cross sell products section:

  1. Select Specific collection.
  2. Click the Select collection bar.
  3. A collection menu will appear.
  4. Choose the collection you want to promote.
  5. Click Select to confirm.

Only products from the selected collection will be shown in the upsell popup.





Step 3: Finish configuring your offer

Continue configuring your offer by:

  • Setting the maximum number of products to display
  • Adjusting popup design and styling
  • Previewing the offer to ensure it looks correct


Once complete, save and publish your offer.

  • Collections can be used to promote matching items, bundles, or seasonal ranges.
  • Best seller collections work well for general upsells across your store.
  • The products shown depend entirely on how your Shopify collection is configured.
