Using the Leave Calendar Page
Leave Calendar Help
Overview
- Shows all leave for the selected organisation or All Organizations.
- Three modes: Calendar, Timeline, Review (list). Toggle in the top-right of the page.
- Use the Filters card to narrow by employee, leave type, and status; clear with Clear Filters.
- Click a leave entry in Timeline or Review to open its detail modal.
Views
- Calendar: Month grid with badges per day; chevrons move months. + Add Leave opens the manual leave dialog.
- Timeline: Switch Month/Week; navigate with Previous/Today/Next. Bars show leave spans by employee; dashed outline = manual entry (not synced to Xero).
- Review: Searchable list grouped into Currently away and Upcoming. Sorting toggles newest/oldest. Manual entries are tagged.
Add a new leave entry (manual)
Manual leaves stay in Simple Leave Calendar and do not sync to Xero.
- Click Add leave (header) or + Add Leave in Calendar view. Button enables when employees are loaded.
- Choose an Employee.
- Pick a Leave type:
- Select an existing type (synced from Xero or manual).
- Or choose Use a custom label and enter a one-off label.
- To add a reusable manual type, click New leave type in the dialog header.
- Set Start date and End date (start must be on or before end).
- Set Status (Approved, Scheduled, Pending review, or Cancelled).
- Optionally add Notes (visible only in Simple Leave Calendar).
- Click Add leave. A toast confirms creation; the entry appears in all views and does not affect Xero balances.
Tips
- Organisation context: when a specific org is selected, employees and leaves are filtered to that connection; All Organizations shows everything you can access.
- Status labels: filters use approved, scheduled, pending, cancelled. Pending items show as Pending review in the Review list.
- Detail modal: open any leave from Timeline or Review to see notes and status without changing the record.
